Comments:The 'poverty guidelines' are a simplified version of the 'poverty thresholds' and 'poverty guidelines' (umbrales de pobreza and líneas de pobreza, as per Trudi Renwick, Assistant Division Chief, Economic Characteristics Social, Economic and Housing Statistics Division) used for administrative purposes (see HHS' website on the poverty guidelines, updated each year). Línea de pobreza is recommended as an intuitive term in Spanish that communicates the concept and is in use in Spanish in the United States by the Census Bureau to denominate a corollary figure.
