Definition (Spanish):—

Comments:The word 'proffer' has a generic legal meaning of "To offer or tender (something , esp. evidence) for immediate acceptance." (Black's, p. 1329) In the EOIR context, however, it has a specific usage, which could be summarized as 'to offer a summary of the facts to which a witness would testify without the witness having to testify'. This is seen frequently with witnesses who are children, or witnesses whose testimony might be repetitive--or sometimes when there's an attempt to save time. See also 'stipulate'.
