sequestration of witnesses

English: sequestration of witnesses

Spanish: incomunicación de los testigos

Definition (English):—

Definition (Spanish):—

Comments:Sequestration refers to the strict circumstances surrounding Grand Jurors and some trial witnesses, wherein they are kept isolated from society in general. This is contrasted with the separation of witnesses, which is what we see in Immigration Court when the IJ requests a witness wait outside until their testimony is required, so as to avoid hearing other witness' testimony. The phrase 'exclusion of witnesses', in English, can refer to both separation as just described, as well as, generally in criminal court, to a witness being barred from testifying for whatever reason (prejudicial, etc). See also 'separation', 'exclusion' of witnesses.
