Comments:The English name of this law, the Nicaraguan Adjustment and Central American Relief Act, is both obtuse and precise. One might ask, do non-Nicaraguan Central Americans get different relief from Nicaraguans? Indeed; under NACARA, elegible Nicaraguans and Cubans are provided a route to adjustment; other Central Americans and people from Soviet Bloc countries were provided exemptions to certain continuous physical presence requirements. USCIS' translation of the name of this law is the Ley de Ajuste Nicaragüense y Ayuda a Centroamerica. Ignoring for a moment the issues surrounding 'ajuste' (see Nationality and Status reference for more), this law does not provide ayuda, which would be relief provided after a national disaster, or a war; this refers to immigration relief, so amparo (see entry for amparo for more).
